So… You have done the Shows, Rides, and Nighttime spectaculars at the Magic Kingdom and now you need something different to do. Don’t worry I got you covered! Let us dive into
Extra adventures you can have at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom!
Starting with Tom Sawyer Island. This is a little get-a-way spot in the middle of the Magic Kingdom. You will need a raft to get to it. These rafts run ever-so often (ever 15-20 minutes) so try and time them just right! While on the island, you can check out different caves and bridges. Overall, just spend time exploring and seeing what you can find! This is a great time for the little (not great if you are Claustrophobic -being afraid or tight spaces or nyctophobic -being afraid of the dark) since certain areas in some of the places to explore have both very dark and tight areas. Overall, if you are looking for something different to do I suggest giving this area a go!
The Casey Junior Splash Pad may be just the thing if it is a hot day and the kiddos need to cool off and burn some energy; it doesn’t hurt the adults to get in there and cool off either!! And when you are done with the splash pad you can check out Smellephants on Parade, which is a new section added to Storybook Circus. Go around the area and find the elephants and see if you can guess what they smell like; Bubble Gum? Apples? Cotton Candy?
If you don’t mind stairs, you can then head over to Adventureland and climb up the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House! I actually love to do this because the views from the top are amazing! The adventure is what you make it with this one. So make sure to just take your time and enjoy the moment.
If you want something even more adventurous head over toward Pirates of the Caribbean and take part in A Pirates Adventure. This is essential a game where you follow clues and roam the area looking to the answers and buried treasure! Keep an eye out for Jack Sparrow, he might just appear out of nowhere!
If you are looking for something more relaxing take a quick stroll into the Firehouse on Main Street U.S.A and have a look around. Maybe see if one of the Main Street Vehicles or Carriages are giving rides down Main Street (better chances for this earlier in the morning).
I was going to add the Frontierland Shootin Arcade to this list but Disney has decided to close this area in expectance of a DVC lounge space.
There are many things you can do in the Magic Kingdom that aren’t rides or shows and you can still have the best time! Let me know what your favorite thing is to do that isn’t “main stream” down below!
