Animal Kingdom is one of the greatest Disney parks when it comes to being able to do a ton of stuff that doesn’t include rides or shows. Truly you can spend an entire day in Animal Kingdom and not even step foot on a ride or into a theater. These are the 8 fin things in Animal Kingdom that are not ride or show related!
Affection Section
This is one of my favorite sections of Animal Kingdom! Take the train over to Raiki’s Planet Watch and you will be able to pet some super cute animals! My last trip, they had goats, donkeys, and a llama out for everyone to visit with! We had the best time just hanging out and doing something different in the park.
The Boneyard
This is a cutely themed playground area for the littles. Parents just have a seat and let the kiddos ware themselves out! There are plenty of slides and places to climb.
Conservation Station
This is also over at Rafiki’s planet. In this area, you can watch veterinary procedures (if they are happening), see some interesting snakes (if you are into that sort of thing), and check out plenty of interesting facts. Overall, this area is a nice way to relax and cool down when it is hot out!
Discovery Island Trails
Trails like this are part of the reason why Animal Kingdom is one of a kind! This path leads around the Tree of life and features different wildlife. This is a relaxing but fun things to do in Animal Kingdom.
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trails
This trail holds the Gorilla exhibit (I’m sure that was obvious)! There is a cool table in the exhibit that has an indented print of a gorilla hand that you can compare your hand size to and it’s pretty wild to see the difference! The Gorilla Falls Exploration Trails also holds an exhibit for hippos and some wild birds! We highly recommend this trail!
Maharagah Jungle Trek
Do you love watching/seeing tigers? I thought so! This trail is definitely for you then! Come explore the area, see some tigers, some more birds, and even a Komodo dragon! I never realized how big Komodo dragons get but I feel like even Mushu would be a bit taken back!
Wilderness Explorers
If your kids love the movie up, or just like to explore, then they will love this activity! Make your way around the park “exploring,” looking for various stations and learning about various animals to earn your different wilderness badges; Just like Russel! You may also catch Kevin out and about on your journey! This is a fun activity to start as you enter the park and then throughout the day, as you reach the different explorer area, do each of the activities.
Animation Experience
Last on our list, but certainly not least, is the Animation Experience. I love this one! Located at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, inside the Conservation Station, you can sit down in a drawing class and learn to draw a Disney character! You may end up with Bruce from Finding Nemo, Stitch from Lilo and Stitch, or even Simba from The Lion King! Each experience is different and is very fun to see how your drawing turns out! This is one of the best fun things to do in Animal Kingdom! (spots can sometimes fill up quickly so keep an eye out!)
